Spring Break in San Diego!!!

We decided rather spontaneously to head to San Diego for the kids Spring Break. We weren't sure we would go any where, but thought that some warm weather was just what we needed! It wasn't warm when we arrived on Tuesday...or really warm on Wednesday...but it got better and better! Besides, it was SNOWING at home! Anything is better than that in April!!
Here is the view from our hotel room in San Diego... The Hyatt Regency Mission Bay
The Marina... the palm trees on the grounds...

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15th,... we are ready for a fun filled day at Sea World! As you can see by the parking lot... it wasn't very busy... which was GREAT!!!!!!

The girls inside the park... ready for a day of fun!

The Beluga Whale Exhibit.... Kenna's favorite!

Our future Marine Biologist... Little did she know when I took this picture that the next day she would be in there with them ....

Yikes... need I say more?....

Courtney talked Dan into a churro... this kid eats NON-STOP! Where does it all go?????

McKenna and Courtney with the Dolphin Discovery Cove behind them... they did a "Spring Into Night" Show the week we were there.... this ended up being our favorite show... and it was at night! Really COOL!

This was the "Shamu Rocks" show...also a special night show the week we were there. It was cool, but not as cool as the Dolphin show....

THURSDAY, APRIL 16th, Dan's Birthday.... Courtney was thrilled for the sunshine and warmth... Like mother, Like Daughter... She and Dan getting ready to "swim with the Dolphins"... Here she is FREEZING to death... lucky for her, McKenna was off getting her a cup of hot cocoa! As she eloquently put it... she has no "meat on her bones!"McKenna with her new best friend! A Beluga Whale!!!! She couldn't believe it! She also got to interact behind the scenes with a Walrus and from a safe distance, the Polar Bears. It just LOVED splashing McKenna! Seriously, it loved playing with her... and had great aim!Later that day, for Dan's birthday he really wanted to go to the golf course and hit a few buckets of balls, so he took us to the mall across the street and we did a little shopping... How genius were the planners involved in this scenario!? On one side of the street a golf course, the other a mall!! This is Courtney's new boyfriend! His name is "Manny" and he works at the gap!Dan's birthday dinner at a Mexican restaurant nearby... doesn't he look old? Actually he just looks very sunburned and happy!FRIDAY, APRIL 17th.... breakfast before heading to the beach for the day! Our beautiful, happy girls! The beach at Coronado Island, California... our personal favorite! It was amazing! The pool and water slide at our hotel... the girls couldn't get enough of being in or near the water!Ready for dinner... I set up a massage at the spa for Dan for his birthday... and then off to the Red Lobster for dinner! Courtney was disgusted by the crab claws!SATURDAY, APRIL 18th.... ready to head for home.... but one last stop to check out the San Diego, Temple! It was amazing!!!! Next time we will plan on doing a session there for sure!See the resemblance? Courtney wanted a picture of her and her new dolphin puppet (she will be using for her Halloween costume this year as a dolphin trainer!) to send to Camilla! We met up with our neighbors in St. George (They had gone to Phoenix) This is McKenna and Taylor in the pool... Jonah his younger brother is Courtney's other best friend... they had a blast playing in the pool and going out to dinner.SUNDAY, APRIL, 19th....We are ready for the last little bit of our trip... HOME here we come! We had a wonderful trip, but it is always great to get home! We made some wonderful memories this SPRING BREAK!

SO Fun! I wish I had pictures like that of me when I swam with dolphins. I don't have any.
You look gorgeous by the way!
Anyway, we had a lot of fun looking at these (me and abi and doug) so thanks for sharing them.
It looks like a really fun vacation and you made me really hungry for Mexican food- there aren't any good Mexican places out here. wah.

Jennifer's sister in Phoenix here...

Just clicked over to visit your blog and meet this family that has stolen my sister's family's hearts and saw your entry about your trip to SD. So weird....the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay is our (my husband's and mine) FAVORITE hotel in SD. Our favorite beach is also the beach at Coronado Island for when we want to play in the water!

Some of our other favorites: Armando's Green Flash restaurant on Pacific Beach (ask Jen - yum), Philippi's Pizza Grotto on Garnet Ave (ask Jen and the boys - yum, yum), and Phil's BBQ on Sports Arena Blvd (get the onion rings - super yum). Also, if you're into beading, there is a great bead store on Jupiter street just off of Sports Arena and another one called South Sun Products about 20 minutes north of the temple.

Dang...now I need to make a trip to SD. Thanks. (Just kidding - my hubby's been begging to go!)

Kristin... nice to meet you! Sounds like we have a lot in common! We should have talked to you before we left for suggestions on where to eat! We ate at a place over in Pacific Beach... but weren't sure what was good! Also, we ate at the Red Lobster on Sports Arena... isn't the BBQ place in the same spot? I think I remember seeing the sign... and the place looked REALLY busy! Well now we know for next time!
Also... on the beading... Jennifer and I talked about that very thing yesterday! She always has the cutest jewelry on, and I am the ward camp director...we need some fun crafts for camp...you see where this is going!?! I think she might help us up at camp with making earrings or something! She is the best... and says the same about you! I will have to check out your blog! Have a great day!
