Valentines Day at the Floyds

The weekend started out with setting up a "date night at the Floyd's" for Shane and Jennifer Davis. It was their 18th wedding anniversary, and needless to say they didn't dare go far from home to celebrate. We sent our girls to their house to hang out with Taylor and Jonah, and set up a candle light dinner for them. They were able to escape for a little while and just enjoy a good meal, a good movie, and sit by the fireplace and talk. I am so glad they let us do this for them! On Monday, Dan took the day off and we really enjoyed the day together. He had a really busy and emotionally draining weekend...it happens when you are a Bishop...so he decided he needed a day off. I kept things quiet so he could sleep in, and when he woke up we jumped in the hot tub, got ready for the day, went and ran a few errands, grabbed a little lunch, and then headed to Courtney's class for her party. Her teacher Mr. Larson, is the best! He had arranged all of the desks in the shape of a heart...
And each desk had the following items on it... a few treats and a "valentine" with each child's picture on it. The kids could bring valentines if they wanted to, but instead of the traditional Valentines party and cards, they all sat at their desks, and they would write something nice to the person who's picture was on the paper they currently had and then after a pre-determined amount of time, Mr. Larson would say "pass" and they would continue to pass them until each student had a "valentine" full of wonderful notes from all of the kids in their class. The kids LOVED it! I have never been to a class party that was so quiet!
This is Courtney's before they got started...
What a cutie!
Courtney and I were at the store a few days ago and she insisted she needed to get Kenna a box of chocolates for Valentines... I thought it was so cute that I told her she could. She wrote her notes and poems...it was adorable! I grabbed one for Kenna to give her...as I knew Kenna hadn't had a chance to run to the store... Aren't they cute?!

To finish off the day, we went to dinner and then came home and updated our 72 hour kits. Nothing says love like dehydrated meals and waterproof matches! We were going to make Valentines for each other, but with all of our recent earth quakes, we thought this was a better idea. It sure made the kids feel better. It was a great weekend and Valentines day... but it feels like Valentines everyday around here... I LOVE my family!

Recent earthquakes?
What a great idea that teacher had. I love that! I think every class should do that.. and that is so cute that he set up the desks like that. What a great teacher!

That is a good idea w/the 72 hour kits. We need to update our food, too.

Last weekend we had 3 earthquakes in our neighborhood... the epicenter was literally in our neighborhood!! The strongest was 3.1 (I think... I know the other two were a 2.5 and a 2.8) It was a little scary!
And no...I haven't started that company yet...but I need to! :)

Yes...the earthquakes...I meant to call you about those as I had heard about them on the news...and then my day went in to "busy" mode and I forgot all about it! Sorry!!

That was a wonderful thing you did for Jennifer and her husband. The pictures of Courtney, her class, and McKenna were adorable...and that teacher had such an awesome idea having the students write letters!
