On Wednesday I took the girls to the pediatrician for their yearly check-ups. We LOVE LOVE LOVE their doctor. She is sweet, and spunky, and remembers little details about my girls. I love that. She always makes them feel important and wonderful...and makes this mom feel like the best mom ever by asking what I am doing to raise such amazing, confident, and smart girls. It is totally worth the co-pay once a year! A $40 pat on the back for mom... gotta love that!
Towards the end of our visit she pulled out their immunization records and told me that we were totally up to date, and that next year when we come Courtney will need all of her Jr. High shots. Just typing that makes me realize (for the first time) that she said Court's name in a sentence with words "Jr." and "High". Yikes... I digress...! Any way, I KNEW what Courtney was thinking at this moment...she HATES shots. I am convinced it is because she got a flu shot a few years ago and swears the needle hit her bone in her arm. It probably did. Have you seen her arms? She is one tiny little chica! When Dr. Ring left the room she immediately started to cry telling me that 1 year is not very much time! I calmed her down, she put on her sunglasses to hide her eyes, and the three of us walked out. I knew this was not the end of the discussion...
As we were driving home, Courtney asked me .... "Mom, do you think the millennium could begin this year?" Here we go....
"Anything is possible, no one knows for sure when the Savior is going to come again. Why?"
"Because when that happens there won't be any pain or illness... so I KNOW there won't be any SHOTS! I REALLY hope it happens this year before my next appointment."
Wow. That's my girl! I guess the Mayan calendar ends this year... which I personally have a theory is because the guy in charge of the calendar died one day and they decided he had gone far enough into the future they didn't replace him.... but I do hope that at the very least some sort of magical immunization device is invented this year that makes getting shots painless! I sure love Courtney! She makes me laugh each and every day!

Poor Courtney!
Please delete the sentence that talks about her and junior high. NOT. POSSIBLE.
I agree... Mayan dude died or had writers cramp.
I hope it's not this year. I have 3 vacations planned (that doesn't ever happen!) and I am starting to plan (because I am crazy like that) our next Disney World trip for when Maddy turns 4 or 5.
Poor, Courtney! She is such a sweet girl.
Mayan dude probably just ran out of room. They will probably find the next section buried somewhere!
I knew you were planning another Disney trip, Cheryl!
What trips do you have planned Cheryl? Do tell!!! I am trying to start making reservations and plans for our trip to Nauvoo in June (we would come see you...) but I have to wait until the 27th to see if there is still a spot to reserve for EFY for McKenna!
Karen- I figured people were wondering with all the Disney themed pins I've been pinning on Pinterest. :) I just had an idea the other day to put all my things on there and I got a huge response from it and it got me in the Disney mood and I figured I started planning our last trip two years out so I am due to start planning the next one!
Steph- In May we are going to Hershey, Pennsylvania. Doug and Maddy have never been there and Doug's parents gave us a week of their timeshare so we chose to go there for a week.
Then mom is going to come out and visit in June sometime (probably the beginning/middle) and we are going to go up to Macinac island for a couple of days. Then in July we are going to meet Doug's family in Nauvoo for the Van Wagenen get together.
Nothing huge... but they should be a lot of fun.
Pres. Packer in his Conference talk (I am studying it because that is my next lesson this sunday) told the youth not to worry because they will have time to marry, raise thier families, and maybe even be here to see their great-grandchildren. surprised me...but I think that deletes the Mayan calendar. (Unless those things can still happen in the millenium?) Anyway...for Courtney's sake I hope a new way for giving painless immunizations comes up before her next shots! What...Jr. High? Noooooooo! Gotta love that beautiful young lady!
