Tuesday: 4th Years preparing to leave and the "Ten Virgins"

The 4th Years putting together their food to take with them for the overnight hike... Two of our cute 4th year girls...
The Stake Committee wanted to make the 4th Years exit dramatic... it was awesome until Karen Hackett fell off her chair!!!
So long ladies...
Be safe... Have fun...Make good choices!
On Tuesday night several of us helped April Thompson of the 1st Ward with an event she had been working on and planning for 8 months! It was the "Ten Virgins" with 5 of us Stake leaders playing the parts of the foolish virgins. Mare Davis played one of the wise, and each ward that participated used their 4 leaders as the other wise virgins. It was a really spiritual experience for each of us. I think the thing that surprised the girls the most, was realizing that all ten of them were members of Christs church. They ALL had lamps...and they all had SOME oil to begin with. It was that the foolish at some point became caught up in foolish things and were not prepared for how long it took for Christ to arrive and they ran out of oil. Their testimony burned out and although they were "invited" to the feast...as we all are... they couldn't attend. And it wasn't that they WOULDN'T share their oil, it was that they COULDN'T share their oil. (Their testimony...and all of the hard work they had done to gain it.) Here some of us are as we were heading up to begin...
I was foolish virgin #1: I was caught up in the "riches and vanities of the world."

It was an evening that changed how I look at this parable...and about what I do each day to fill my lamp with oil... Thank you April!
