Nauvoo Vacation: Day 10 (Sunday)

We got up early and got ready for church. We found a ward near our hotel: The Fleming Park Ward in "Blue Springs". (Independence, Missouri)
Our "program"... It was a great ward and really enjoyed attending Fast and Testimony meeting in this ward. We will never forget hearing a young woman in the ward sharing her testimony about going out with the Sister Missionaries and meeting a man named "Chop-Sticks". I love that the church is the same everywhere...
After church we headed back to our hotel and got changed and packed up our stuff and reloaded our car. We then headed for the Independence, Missouri Visitors Center. It was really neat and we found spending our Sabbath visiting these sites a great way to spend the day.

Unfortunately, when you are on vacation you don't have much of a choice when it comes to meals. We knew that we would have to eat out... so we decided to try a suggestion made to us called "Square Pizza" on Independence Square.
It was really square... and it was REALLY good! Still felt weird eating out though!
We then headed to Liberty, Missouri and the Liberty Jail...
It was amazing how they built the visitors center literally right around the actual spot that the Liberty Jail stood. They had the exact measurements and great detail, and were able to rebuild it. Some of the rock is the actual rock! This is how thick all of the walls were. Can you imagine?! No escaping this jail!
It looks smaller in this picture but it was "to scale" showing how tight and dark their living"cell" was here. They were tall enough that I don't think any of them could actually stand up straight. Can you imagine how sore you would be?!
I don't remember where we saw this... but is this a "Mormon Vehicle" or what? .....
Then we headed to the Kansas City Temple. We had hoped to make a session, but it just didn't work out! It is really beautiful and the saints in this area are SOOOOO grateful to finally have their own temple and have it so close!

I hadn't put in a picture of our BMW... a missionary in Nauvoo called it that... Big Mormon Wagon! Funny huh?! I'm sure my dad will think that's funny!
We then headed from Kansas City Missouri across the border into Kansas City, Kansas....
And the Great Wolf Lodge! When the girls and I  went out to Chicago several years ago to watch my mom run the Chicago marathon, my parents took us all to the one in the Wisconsin Dells.  We have wanted to stay at one ever since...

It's a huge indoor water park!
This one however, was only about a 1/3 the size of the one we had stayed at before and was geared more towards little kids... We told the kids we were staying 2 nights so they could play in the water park tomorrow. (Monday)
Because we weren't swimming today we decided to go for a walk around Cabela's (which was next door) for something to do...
Dan would love to put this in our yard!!!
We couldn't believe the size of these catfish!!!! SO UGLY!!!!
We grabbed some dinner and the girls thought they needed to take a picture of me because the humidity had finally affected my hair! I could feel it growing!!!!
Now back to our hotel to get some sleep! Big day tomorrow!!!!
