Nauvoo Vacation: Day 11 (Monday)

This morning Dan and I had made plans to go for a tour of Moly-Cop, a company that Metro Group does a lot of business with. We had told the girls they could swim and ride the water slides while we were gone. It's nice to have a 16 year old that loves to hang out with her little sister!

Before we left, we went down to have breakfast... the Great Wolf Lodge we had stayed at with my parents in Wisconsin had the most amazing "breakfast bar" with cook to order waffles and omelets,  along with lots of delicious breakfast foods, so we were expecting the same thing here. I even pre-ordered breakfast passes when I made our reservations. (and it was EXPENSIVE! But I thought it would be worth it.) I couldn't believe how different this whole experience was from where we had stayed before! I assumed that it would be the same because it was a chain... but I couldn't have been more wrong.
After "eating" breakfast we went out to the front desk and asked if there was any way we could get a refund on the second days breakfast and why. We also asked if there was any way we could be refunded the second nights stay and leave early. They apologized and told us that this was the smallest property their company owns and that they understood why were disappointed. They agreed to the refunds and told us the girls could swim and we could check out at 2 pm. We were so grateful! And I was glad I wasn't imagining it being so different! It actually was!!!!
So, the girls played while we drove to Moly-Cop...
Nice outfit huh?! I hadn't packed clothes for this...but they hooked me up! They gave me some socks, steel-toed boots, a lovely orange "shirt", gloves, a hardhat, and safety goggles! Dan was loving this outfit and made me pose for this picture. It was a great tour and we both really enjoyed getting to see how grinding balls are made...
A big scrap yard right next door...
We got back, packed up and headed out a day early. It actually worked out better for us, and we would never have had time to do the things on the schedule tomorrow if we hadn't have left today. The girls had fun while we were gone, but they both said that they were ready to go, and that they would have been bored if we had stayed the rest of the day. We promised Courtney we would go to the American Girl in Kansas City...
We then hit the road and headed for Salina, Kansas. I thought this church looked so beautiful out in the middle of a Kansas field....
We got settled and then headed out to find some dinner... thought this sign was funny! And no, we didn't eat at the "Rubbing Butts" BBQ and Catering!
Tomorrow is going to be a wonderful day!

Wow! I can't believe that about the Great Wolf. The one in Grand Mound is small, but the breakfast was the same or even better than the one in the Dells. I think that they should charge you according to how big each Great Wolf is. Glad that they were accommodating.
