Day 5...
Today I am grateful for the new assisted living home, "Stonehenge", that Dan's dad has been moved to in American Fork. He has been in several since we got married nearly 20 years ago... and I have never left any of them feeling as happy and hopeful as I do tonight. He moved in a few weeks ago, and tonight we decided to go visit him for Family Home Evening. The moment we walked in we could feel the difference... and then we saw his dad. It is the happiest I remember seeing him in as long as I can remember. He was so excited to see us! We were able to wheel him down to a family visiting room and actually enjoy our time together. It is still difficult to understand most of what he says, but we didn't leave feeling depressed and sad. We were able to laugh about the funny things he said and did... and we finally feel like he is getting the care and attention that he deserves. Dan and his brother Travis are going in to meet with the staff on Wednesday and they are going to outline a treatment program for him, including some physical therapy that will hopefully help him get moving around better. I am so grateful that he can be in a place that makes him so happy!
